God’s Mercy WILL NOT Extend to the Disbelievers after Judgement Day
Mercy is one of God’s attributes. He is the Merciful. He has decreed mercy upon Himself:
Say, “To whom belongs what is in the heavens and the earth?” Say, “To God.” He has decreed mercy upon Himself. He will gather you unto the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. Those who have lost themselves, they do not believe. 6:12
The term mercy is defined as: Compassion or forgiveness shown towards someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm.
At this current point in time, God’s Mercy encompasses ALL things. This includes all human beings on earth:
“Our Lord, You have encompassed all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who have repented and followed Your path, and spare them the punishment of Hellfire.” 40:7
Notice in verse 40:7 that it is in the past tense, that God has encompassed all things in mercy. This is BEFORE the Day of Judgement.
Also verses 7:156-157 God speaks of His mercy encompassing all things (present tense), while His punishment WILL strike whom He pleases (future tense).
..”My punishment will strike whomever I please, and My mercy encompasses all things, and so I shall decree it for those who are reverent, give the Zakat, and those who believe in Our revelations, and to those who follow the messenger.. 7:156-157
God’s mercy currently encompasses all things because He is giving us a final chance to redeem ourselves. Many are being granted respite until the Day of Judgement. After judgement however, God will not extend His mercy to the disbelievers:
On the Day the hypocrite men and the hypocrite women say to those who believed, “Wait for us so that we can acquire some of your light,” it will be said, “Go back behind you and seek a light.” A fence is then placed between them that has a gate; on its inner lies mercy, and on its outer lies the punishment. 57:13
On the Day when some faces will be whitened, and some faces will be blackened. As for those whose faces are blackened: “Did you disbelieve after having believed? Therefore, taste the punishment for what you used to deny.” And as for those whose faces are whitened, they are embraced within God’s mercy. Therein, they shall permanently remain. 3:106-107
Say, “I fear, should I dis-obey my Lord, the punishment of a great Day.” Whoever is averted from it on that Day has indeed attained His mercy. This is the clear triumph. 6:15-16
The disbelievers will surely miss out on God’s mercy in the Hereafter:
Those who disbelieved in God’s revelations and in His meeting, such ones have despaired of My mercy, and such ones shall have a painful punishment. 29:23
On the Day of Judgement, only some will be shown mercy by God:
The Day when no friend can avail a friend in any way nor will they be helped, except for those who are shown mercy by God. Indeed, He is the Dignified, the Merciful. 44:41-42
He said, “I will take refuge on a mountain which will protect me from the water.” He said, “There is no protector today from God’s command except those whom He has granted mercy.” The waves surged between them, and he became one of the drowned. 11:43
Mercy is attainable only by the believers who follow the correct religion in this life:
Observe the Salat and give the Zakat, and obey the messenger so that you may attain mercy. 24:56
When the Quran is being read, listen to it and pay attention so that you may attain mercy. 7:204
And this is a blessed Book which We brought down, so follow it and be reverent so that you may attain mercy. 6:155
And obey God and the messenger so that you may be granted mercy. 3:132
The believers are conscious of the Hereafter and they seek His mercy:
Is it not better to be one who is devoutly obedient, prostrating and standing during the night, fearful of the Hereafter and seeking his Lord’s mercy? Say, “Are those who know and those who do not know the same?” Only those who possess intelligence will remember. 39:9
Those whom they call upon are themselves seeking the means to their Lord with regards to which of them can be nearer. They hope for His mercy and fear His punishment. The punishment of your Lord is certainly to be feared. 17:57
God’s forgiveness and mercy in the Hereafter are better than anything we can amass here on earth:
If you get killed in the cause of God, or die, the forgiveness from God and mercy are better than whatever they can amass. 3:157
And God admits whom He wills into His mercy:
He admits whom He wills into His mercy. As for the transgressors, He has prepared for them a painful punishment. 76:31
Had God willed, He could have made them one nation, but He admits whom He wills into His mercy. As for the transgressors, they will have no ally or supporter. 42:8
To be admitted into God’s mercy in the Hereafter is the true victory that all believers should be striving towards:
As for those who believe and do good deeds, their Lord will admit them into His mercy. That is the clear triumph. 45:30
And safeguard them from the consequences of sin. On that Day, those whom You have safeguarded from the consequences of sin are indeed those whom You have granted mercy. That is the great triumph.” 40:9
Peace & God Bless
