Muhammad Was Not the Final Messenger!
Most Muslims today insist that Muhammad was the last messenger of God.
They fail to distinguish the fact that there is a difference between a prophet and a messenger.
Muhammad was not the father of any of your men, but he was the messenger of God and the seal of the prophets. God is Knowledgeable of all things. 33:40
God confirms Muhammad was the last prophet and also a messenger of God. It is also obvious in 33:40 that a messenger is different to a prophet.
Nowhere in the Quran does God state that Muhammad was the 'last messenger.’
It is also evident in verse 22:52 that there is a difference between a prophet and a messenger:
We did not send before you any messenger nor a prophet without the devil attempting to tamper with his wishes. God then records the tampering of the devil, and He asserts His revelations. God is Knowledgeable, Wise. 22:52
So what is the difference between a prophet and a messenger?
Prophets are sent with a new Scripture to deliver. Messengers are assigned various tasks to accomplish without actually bringing a new Scripture.
Among the prophets are:
-
Moses (Torah)
-
Jesus (Injeel)
-
David (Psalms)
-
Muhammad (Quran)
They all delivered a new Scripture from God.
Hence, every prophet is also a messenger as they bring a new message, but not every messenger is a prophet.
This is also why it is not necessary for God to inform us of all the messengers:
Some messengers We have narrated to you before, and other messengers We have not narrated to you. 4:164
It is however necessary for God to inform us of the prophets, since we must believe in His scriptures:
O you who believe, believe in God and His messenger, and the Book He has brought down upon His messenger, and the Scripture He has brought down previously. Whoever disbelieves in God, and His angels, and His Scriptures, and His messengers, and the Last Day, has indeed strayed far astray. 4:136
We read in the Quran that God sends a messenger to every nation:
For every nation is a messenger. 10:47
We have sent a messenger to every nation saying, "You shall worship God, and stay away from false gods." 16:36
Verse 7:35 also proves all nations will receive a messenger, including the people after Muhammad’s time, since “O Children of Adam” addresses all the people:
O Children of Adam, when messengers come to you from among you narrating My revelations to you; for those who are reverent and who reform, no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve. 7:35
Since nations will exist until the end of the world, we cannot rule out that there may be future messengers to come after Muhammad.
It is in fact a trait of the disbelievers to believe that no further messengers will be sent from God!
Joseph came to you previously with the clear proofs, but you continued to doubt what he came to you with. Then when he died, you said, “God will not send another messenger after him.” Thus does God misguide the one who is excessive and a sceptic. 40:34
This is evident in all our history; the Jews did not accept Jesus as a messenger of God, while the Christians did not accept Muhammad as a messenger of God.
Mainstream Muslims also regressed in their belief when they failed to accept Rashad Khalifa as the Messenger of the Covenant (3:81), who brought one of the greatest miracles (74:30-37).
Those who claim Muhammad is the ‘last messenger’ are saying about God what they do not know and attributing lies to God, since we cannot verify this information in the Quran.
Do not utter lies that are portrayed by your tongues: “This is lawful, and that is unlawful,” to fabricate lies and attribute them to God. Those who fabricate lies and attribute them to God will not succeed. 16:116
This type of behaviour is prohibited by God and advocated by the devil himself:
Say, “My Lord has only prohibited immoralities, what is apparent of them and what is concealed, and the sins, and unjustified aggression, and that you associate with God that for which He has not brought down any authorisation, and to say about God what you know not.” 7:33
He (Satan) only commands you to commit evil and immorality, and to say about God what you do not know. 2:169
And do not follow what you have no knowledge of. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart, all these will be questioned for it. 17:36
