The Angels & Those Who Possess Intelligence

State the Shahada!!

The correct Shahada as mentioned in the Quran by God is that “there is no god except Him.”

God bears witness that there is no god except Him… 3:18

Bearing witness is different to just witnessing something as it can involve testifying to the truth and making a formal statement out loud.

God teaches us in verse 3:18 that it is specifically the angels and those who possess intelligence who state the Shahada:

God bears witness that there is no god except Him, and so do the angels and those who possess knowledge, upholding justice. There is no god except Him, the Dignified, the Wise. 3:18

It is interesting that the angels state the Shahada, since they are already believers and do not become believers as we do on earth.

With this information, we can conclude the Shahada is no longer a testimony of faith when you initially become a Muslim, but rather, something that should be recited frequently.

The angels are the best of creatures in the sight of God and lead a perfect example for us to follow.

The angels state the Shahada (3:18), they glorify God with praise and ask God to forgive the believers (42:5).

The heavens almost shatter from above them, and the angels glorify their Lord with praise and ask forgiveness for those in the earth. Indeed, God is the Forgiver, the Merciful. 42:5

God asks the believers on earth to do these same things that the angels do.

Since those who possess intelligence also state the Shahada, it makes for the perfect opportunity to include it in our Salat. Our Salat is generally the only time we communicate to God verbally out loud in our daily lives and the Shahada is also a statement to be said out loud.

By adding the Shahada to our Salat, we would then be fulfilling the requirement in 3:18, that those who possess intelligence bear witness that there is no God except Him.

Peace & God Bless
